You're dead on Steve. Specifically regarding the genetic testing, I recently had a conversation with a University of PA. geneticist. She said the value of genetic testing is very limited, even when looking for specific conditions base on symptoms (I had a patient who we were evaluating for adult Pompe's). Claims of those offering screening testing for our patients are very suspect, especially if you consider the implications with "positive" tests.

The insurance companies fire a salvo that will generate headlines, yet ultimately miss the mark. Once again, the opponents of concierge medicine attempt to demonize the physicians who are unwilling to continue working in a broken paradigm.
As the healthcare debate evolves, especially in an election year, expect to see politicians, malpractice attorneys, insurance companies, and other parties with a vested interest in perpetuating a broken cycle continue to posture and triangulate against concierge medicine. Insurance companies want to protect their revenue, lawyers argue against tort reform in order to protect their revenue streams, and politicians attempt to nationalize (socialize) healthcare in order to create a nanny-state and further consolidate their control of the agenda. Furthermore, most politicians are lawyers, and they are certainly not about to advocate for tort reform lest they kill their minions' golden goose. These "experts", fortunately, are not able to actually treat patients.
